The Manhattan: Stand-Up for Grown-Ups http://www.laughstub.com/buyTicket.cfm?showTimingID=335386&buy You appreciate a night out with friends where everyone isn't texting and taking selfies.
So, when you're out for a night of comedy, you want entertainment that respects who you are,
that's smart, that doesn't shoot for the lowest common denominator, that says something about the world we live in and speaks to your experience.

That's our show. It's as sophisticated and elegant as the cocktail and City for which it's named (it’s also very, very funny).

The show is brought to you by:

Alex Barnett
As the White, Jewish husband of a Black woman (who converted to Judaism) and the father of a 2-year old, Biracial son, Alex focuses on the challenges of being a parent in a bad economy and the issues that confront interracial families. Alex, who began his comedy career after years as a lawyer (to the consternation of his mother), has been featured on the Katie Couric Show, Sirius/XM Radio’s “Raw Dog Comedy,” and in The Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, and CNN.com. In 2011, he won the 12th Annual Gilda’s Club (Northern NJ) Laugh-Off.

Adam Oliensis
Adam has spent decades studying philosophy & martial arts. He has undergone extensive psychotherapy. Twice. But no amount of intellectual, spiritual, or physical discipline could prepare him for the slow chipping away of self-esteem that comes with being a husband and a father…especially the father of teenage girls.

In his Stand-Up Adam mines the absurdities, ironies, and silliness that arise in the most humbling everyday situations (with which he is continues to gain vast experience).

He won the 2013 Paramount Theatre Stand-Up Star Search. He has recently opened for Robert Klein, Colin Quinn, and Gilbert Gottfried. With Jon Cryer he wrote and starred in the film, “The Pompatus of Love.” And he’s been nominated for Tony, Drama Desk, and Clio awards.

Yes, Moms get all the credit. As they should. But, we do stuff too. Somebody has to carry the groceries, take out the garbage, say crazy stuff that no one understands.

Also, someone has to be in charge of doing the stupid things that make everyone laugh. Mom can’t do that. She’s too busy being responsible. If it weren’t for her, Dad would have the kids dressed in potato sacks, wearing hats all year, and wiping their noses with the backs of their hands. As a result, Dad has plenty of extra time to do the stuff that the family will never stop talking about and laughing at (like the time Dad tried to install the air conditioner and electrocuted himself).

So, don’t miss the Dads of Comedy, because we’ve had plenty of extra time to come up with stupid stuff that’ll make you laugh.

(But check with your mother first to make sure it’s okay)]]>

Real life is difficult. We know.

Remember when it wasn’t so hard? When the greatest fear was not sleeping through class. When the main concern was which party to attend each weekend? When your biggest challenge was deciding between all the awesome careers that were waiting for you after graduation.

Whether it was last year or fifty years ago, everyone remembers how the college years, even with all their challenges, were days when life just wasn’t so complicated. We certainly remember . . . with our parents reminding us constantly that we’re using our expensive college educations to be comedians, how could we forget?

Well, we can’t bring those simple days back for you or get rid of your bills, but we can help you forget your cares and concerns for a night with smart comedy that will make you laugh out loud.

The Post-Grad Comedy Show is brought to you by:

Alex Barnett
As the White, Jewish husband of a Black woman (who converted to Judaism) and the father of a 3-year old, Biracial son, Alex focuses on the challenges of being a parent in a bad economy and the issues that confront interracial families. Alex has been featured on Sirius/XM Radio’s “Raw Dog Comedy,” NBC’s EVB Live, ComedyTime TV, RT TV America and NYC-TV and in The Wall Street Journal, The Huffington Post, and CNN.com. In 2011, he won the 12th Annual Gilda’s Club (Northern NJ) Laugh-Off.

Aaron Kominos-Smith
Aaron is a graduate of Cornell University where he was an architecture major and member of the school’s improv group.

With his charming wit and energetic characters Aaron connects instantly with his audience. He regularly performs at comedy clubs and colleges across the country and has appeared on Comedy Central, MTV and American Movie Classic. Aaron’s humor varies from observational thoughts on the mundane to articulated commentary on society informed by his experiences in New York City as an architect all punctuated with a few splashes of wackiness.

Eric Neumann
Eric Neumann is a stand-up comedian based in NYC. He started comedy at twenty years old at the “New Talent Show” at Comic Strip Live. He currently performs at various comedy clubs throughout the city including Comic Strip, Broadway Comedy Club, Stand-up New York and New York Comedy Club. He has been featured on Rooftopcomedy.com and the Rooftop Comedy Podcast, Sirius XM Radio and performs at colleges all over the country. That’s what Glass Half Full Comedy is all about. We remind you that even when things seem like they’re at their worst, there are still plenty of things to provide laughter and joy.

Glass Half Full Comedy is brought to you by:

Dan Enfield
Combining outrageously raunchy observations, biting insights into the absurdities of modern living, and the occasional poorly placed pun with an in-your-face stage presence, Daniel Enfield has quickly become one of the most recognizable faces in comedy. Originally from Miami, Dan began his comedy work while at the University of Colorado. In 2007, he was one of several comedians featured at Denver’s Oriental Theater for a performance called The Bad Boys of Jewish Comedy. In the days that have followed, Dan has performed at clubs and colleges across the country, including The Miami Improv, Syracuse University, Denver University, The University of Colorado Boulder and Florida International University. Since 2009, Dan has been a resident of New York, a city he has embraced and which has embraced him.

Max Neuman
Max Neuman is a rising comedian and writer, born and raised in New York City. Max wants to make clear that he is not from Long Island, Westchester, New Jersey, or Connecticut, all of which seem like very nice places to have been born and raised, too. So nice, in fact, that Max wonders why people from those places say they are from New York City instead. When Max is not wondering about that, he performs at clubs, bars, and his studio apartment, a masterful space that quadruples as a living room, bedroom, home office, and practice stage.

Nothing . . . except their passion for comedy, their ability to break down racial and ethnic barriers through laughter, and their belief that diversity enhances all of our lives. These 3 men – Akash Bhasin, Alex Barnett and Charles McBee – who come from three very different backgrounds, use comedy to tackle head-on the racial and ethnic prejudices and stereotypes that even now in the 21st Century still linger. Through their unique comedic perspectives, these men challenge the prejudices that still exist in today’s world. And, when they do, look out, you’ll find yourself not only laughing out loud but emerging with new perspectives on race and ethnicity and the wonderful diversity of American culture.

So, what do these men, these comedians have in common? Nothing except the fact that they all use comedy and laughter to bring everyone closer together . . . . Oh, and all three of them love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

It is a deceptivly hard art form. It requires craft, precision and dedication. Just being funny isn't enough. As an emerging comic you are the performer, writer, director, choreographer and your own personal advisor. A misstep in one are impacts all others.

This class is designed to work with comics from those who are stepping on stage for the first time, to those who have some experience, and gets them to put into place the tools and systems that will move them into the comedy industry.

Over the 7 classes we cover:
*Writing
*Performing
*Editing
*Reviewing your sets as a tool for growth
*Finding stages and navigating the industry
*Creating the marketing tools, from personal materials to your virtual presence
*Organization of material and business contacts.

In addition every student performs and recieves detailed feedback every class. There is a live show in front of an audience upon completion of the class.

The workshop is the most comprehensive comedy course offered today for emerging stand-ups. Students perform every week in a supportive workshop environment, developing material and stage presence, all under the watchful eye of the instructor. Each student gets individual attention in order to guarantee the growth of the comic as an individual.

The Manhattan: Stand-Up for Grown-Ups http://www.laughstub.com/buyTicket.cfm?showTimingID=362212&buy You appreciate a night out with friends where everyone isn't texting and taking selfies.

That’s what Glass Half Full Comedy is all about. We remind you that even when things seem like they’re at their worst, there are still plenty of things to provide laughter and joy.

Glass Half Full Comedy is brought to you by:

The Diversity Show http://www.laughstub.com/buyTicket.cfm?showTimingID=362206&buy Three men -- an Indian. an African-American. a White Jewish guy. What do they have in common?

Nothing . . . except their passion for comedy, their ability to break down racial and ethnic barriers through laughter, and their belief that diversity enhances all of our lives.

HOPE consistently connects over 70% of graduates with employment and we achieve job retention rates among the strongest in the industry. In fact, our workforce development program achieves top decile performance with regard to long-term job retention, based on results from a recent survey of workforce development organizations nationwide.
But the true impact of our work is reflected in the words of our grads: “In my past, my addition came first. I couldn’t hold a job and my son had to do with less. Now I have a full-time job with benefits. I’m a different man now. – Arthur, HOPE Graduate.

The Manhattan: Stand-Up for Grown-Ups http://www.laughstub.com/buyTicket.cfm?showTimingID=362213&buy You appreciate a night out with friends where everyone isn't texting and taking selfies.

That’s what Glass Half Full Comedy is all about. We remind you that even when things seem like they’re at their worst, there are still plenty of things to provide laughter and joy.

That’s what Glass Half Full Comedy is all about. We remind you that even when things seem like they’re at their worst, there are still plenty of things to provide laughter and joy.

Glass Half Full Comedy is brought to you by:

The Manhattan: Stand-Up for Grown-Ups http://www.laughstub.com/buyTicket.cfm?showTimingID=362215&buy You appreciate a night out with friends where everyone isn't texting and taking selfies.

Dads of Comedy http://www.laughstub.com/buyTicket.cfm?showTimingID=362221&buy
