Unlike the actual film festival, comedy shorts do not have to have been made in the last two years, they just need to be really funny. However, these entries only qualify for the Road to Burbank Comedy Contest and not for the actual film festival. A separate withoutabox submission and entry fee is required for the festival, and those short films, webisodes or Youtube videos can run up to 50 minutes in length.

The beloved ventriloquist passed away February 27th, at the age of 62. .

Humble," "loving" and "genuine" are words that came to mind when friends think of Vince Dantona.

Dantona made a name for himself and his sidekick, his ventriliquist dummy George, in the Long Island comedy scene after he returned from a 10-year stint in the Marine Corps. His career took off working with names like Eddie Murphy, Robert Bartlett, Kevin James and Bob Nelson.

"He loved to make people laugh and he was good at it," said Christopher Roach, an eight year comedy veteran who spent Dantona's last night with him doing a gig in Elmira. "Vince was the type of person who made you feel like you were his best friend, even if you just met him. I've been lucky enough to work with him for eight years and I'm heartbroken. I can only imagine how people who've known him for 20 or 30 years are feeling right now."

Christopher Monty first opened up for Dantona on his first paying comedy gig more than 15 years ago where they instantly became friends. Monty feels that the comedy world has lost a true legend and that he's lost a part of his family.

"In any kind of show business, you have your family at home and the family you're with every night on the road," said Monty. "Vince was my father, my older brother, my mentor. He was someone special to all of us."

"After I got out of a gig, I knew I could always call Vince and he'd be on the way home too, and we could talk and keep each other up," he added. "If we were ever performing together, I'd get a phone call to my hotel room from George in the middle of the night asking me if I'd want to go out and do something. I'm going to miss those things."

Though he never quite rose to superstardom, Dantona did what he loved every single day, and that was more than enough for him. Through his career, Dantona and George appeared on several television shows including America's Funniest People, Comedy Central, Good Morning America and The Joan Rivers Show.

Face Off Unlimited, LLC (producer) - Creators of BATSU! - NYC’s live Japanese batsu-game improv show, in the heart of the East Village, where improv comics compete in hilarious challenges and face outrageous punishments for failure!

Our newest show is IMPROVIUS MAXIMUS, a comedy gladiator show where improv teams face off against each other in front of Mighty Caesar, Emperor Nero - Sundays at 7pm at the Secret Theatre in Queens.

We are also the producers of the annual QUEENS IMPROV JAMBOREE, where the some of the nations top improv comics descend of Long Island City each year to celebrate the Jamboree’s focus of “improvised artwork showcased in a performance frame.”

Now based in Astoria, Queens, Face Off Unlimited began in 2003 as a short form competitive improv comedy show at Theatre Three in Port Jefferson called Friday Night Face Off (FNFO). FNFO is now the longest running and most successful improv comedy show in Long Island history. Over the years, FNFO has spawned almost a dozen improv troupes, all over the Island.

The Liquid Radio Players perform totally improvised shows in the style of old-time radio, complete with live sound effects and music.

The troupe originally debuted this signature format at ACME Comedy Theatre in Los Angeles in September 2000, and has since completed a number of highly successful runs at that popular venue, in addition to performances at LA landmarks like the Derby, the Friar's Club, the Museum of Television and Radio, and the Argyle Hotel. LRP has also taken its act on the road, appearing at the famedChicago City Limits Theatre in New York City, as well as at Chicago's WNEP Theater, and the prestigious Chicago Improv Festival, where they garnered outstanding reviews and audience acclaim.

The private dick... The gangster's moll... The lonesome cowboy... The double-crossing femme fatale...These and more are the classic characters the Liquid Radio Players bring to life as they spontaneously enact an entire radio drama before the audience's eyes. Audience members choose the genre (detective story, Western, adventure, soap opera, horror, sci-fi or sitcom), provide a title for the story and character names for the actors, and name products they would like advertised during the show. Then, seven of LA's finest improvisers take the stage in period costumes, blank scripts in hand and, standing in front of vintage microphones, play out the requested show a la an actual radio broadcast from the 1940s. Two other players punctuate the story with live sound effects from a fully equipped onstage Foley table, while a keyboardist provides live music. The show also includes a rotating roster of variety acts that provide musical and comical tributes to that bygone era.

WHAT THE CRITICS SAY:

Liquid Radio Players really swings... A study in acting agility and wit... True to the old radio formula of crisp timing, but with superb staging.

The straight dope? It's improv, it's fun, and, shweetheart, this is one style of performance that deserves further investigation.

This group could have just as easily placed a radio on stage, allowed the audience to close their eyes and we would have been just as entertained... It was clear to see what a group could do when they not only studied the style they were performing, but took the time to fall in love with it.

The radio format is the brainchild of LRP Director Stan Morse.
