Nick Swardson is a funny guy. If you loved watching him in Reno 911 or in the classic stoner flick Grandma’s Boy, then you will definitely love him in the new projects he has coming out. Lucky for us, there are many projects because Nick has been a force of nature, a friggin whirlwind of comedy and below we have collected a sample of what is ahead so you can become swept away by the funny. First there is his short parody of a popular internet porn franchise, which Nick did with FunnyOrDie.com.

Then Swardson has the 2nd season of his sketch TV show on Comedy Central, Pretend Time.  It’s full of classic comedy moments and many cameo’s from other comedians like Al Madrigal and Nick Kroll. Here is a clip from last season, if you haven’t seen the show; it  examines the life of Lady Gaga’s brother. Pretend Time Returns on October 5th!

If that wasn’t enough to satisfy a Nick Swardson fan, there is also a new movie coming out called: Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star. The costume Nick wears is ridiculous in a snorting milk out-of-your-nose way, and this new film that opens on September 9th promises to be just has outrageous and entertaining as his other projects.

Scot Richardson, The CEO & founder of LaughStub was on The Comedy Sideshow Podcast and talked with Theo Von about the state of the industry and how LaughStub fits into it for comedians, promoters and comedy clubs around the world. If you’ve wondered how LaughStub came to be, this podcast reveals how Scot Richardson started out in the wild and woolly world of Comedy.

The podcast starts with an interview with the funny & well-tailored Ryan Stout and then Theo asks Scot about the early days of the Comedy Juice,  Dave Chappelle drop ins and the problems with renting an elephant for your wedding. For every 20 nerds to go to Comi-Con in San Diego, there are hundreds who couldn’t make the journey this year, like us in the offices of LaughStub.

Fortunately for all of us who couldn’t make it, there are some comically inclined Youtubers like Mediocre Films, who were able to share their awkward experiences with booth babes and the costumed cuties. They had the creepy interactions, so you didn’t have to. So let’s bow in thanks, strap on your web-shooters and get your geek on!

While Marc Maron or Adam Carolla represent the respectable comedic storefront of the podcasting world, there are many other podcasts created in dank basements that haven’t quite reached a level of respectability. Far below these basement podcasts, in the sewers of the podrealm, you will find the Mutant Podcast of Dave Anthony and Greg Behrendt called Walking the Room. The duo talk about their stalled stand up comedy careers, their scheming neighbors (lovingly referred to as Hobotangs), and their obsessions  with candy and Juggalo culture.

These podcasts are often unpredictable, full of awkward moments and laughs that will dislodge something inappropriate from your body. (wait till you hear what they reveal about Ellen Degeneres, I would tell you, but I don’t snitch) If you are looking for something dark and funny, this podcast is definitely worth checking out. If you are close to Los Angeles, you may be able to get tickets to their Largo Show on June 27th, The Starfish Circus. They will perform Stand up comedy with Patton Oswalt, Brian Posehn, and Wil Anderson, frequent guest stars of the podcasts. There will also be some surfer guitar rock from Greg’s band, The Reigning Monarchs.

If you don’t live near the city of angels, you will have the opportunity to see this show soon as Dave and Greg have announced that they plan on taking this show around the states.  To get a taste of the madness of this show and podcast, check out this short youtube video they made to test some candy that their fans (AKA Cuddlaz) have sent to them.

Are you looking for another podcast to follow? Well one of our Laughstub Ninjas, Dee, has been helping some up-and-comers launch their new comedy podcast show. It’s called Watch This Radio and you can listen to these Improv dudes (Aaron and Keith) as they figure out how to work a podcast and hone their comedy chops by interviewing well known comedians like Ian Bagg.

Parents are often portrayed in the media as disconnected fuddy-duddys who have traded their sense of humor for adult responsibility. In reality, many parents have developed a sharp sense of humor to cope with their diaper duties, and now there are more comedians and products targeted at these cool parents who need a laugh.

Of these new products, there is a new book out called Go The F%$# to Sleep, about the eternal parental struggle to put their kid to bed, and BoingBoing just did a great blog post about a new audio version of the book featuring Samuel L. We just got a copy of Adam Hammer’s new comedy CD ALMOST CLEAN for review, and we have to agree, it’s worth sharing. As Adam talks about politics, his experiments with drugs or global warming, you feel like you are listening to an older brother that has moved back into the house after a few misadventures in the real world. Adam’s voice has a familiar, laid back quality and at times it feels like he could be sitting beside you, taking a pull of a frosty brew while he shares his stories of how life isn’t what he thought it was. You will probably laugh and nod your head in agreement, spouting “freaking a, he’s right, man”, because these jokes hit common experiences in all the right ways.
