Liz Stewart Bio

Liz Stewart was raised in Houston, Texas, where education and arts flourish in an otherwise (with the exception of Austin) conservative, red necked and sexually incestuous state. There, she was fortunate enough to train at the University of Houston. She studied writing under the direction of Edward Albee (Zoo Story, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf) and even performed in two of his new plays series at Stages Theatre in Houston’s theatre district. Liz also studied Shakespeare under the direction of Sir Peter Hall (founder, Royal Shakespeare Company) as well as Dr. Sidney Berger (Houston Shakespeare Festival). She performed many times at the Houston Shakespeare Festival at the prestigious Miller Outdoor Theatre. Liz also sang with the Moores Opera Center for four years, performing in such classics as the Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny as well as the premiere of Dangerous Liasons.

Liz then began to perform improv comedy and found that she liked it, so she moved to Chicago, where she trained, taught, as well as performed at the home of improvisational comedy, Chicago’s beloved Second City. She also performed improv with Comedysportz and the Free Associates where she was named by the Chicago Tribune as a “must see” for the long running show, BS. Liz furthered her acting training at the Steppenwolf Theatre (Malkovich, Sinese) under direction of artistic director, Erika Daniels whom urged her to audition for Darrell W. Cox’s (Steppenwolf, Profiles) Midwest premiere production of Wonder of the World where she gained critical acclaim for her “delicious portrayal of multiple character roles” (City Life) Liz also became a regular on the stand up comedy scene performing at the Lyon’s Den and Crush. Liz sang the National Anthem at Wrigley Field in front of 60,000 people.

Liz performs on every stand up comedy stage in LA ranging from prestigious clubs to bars of ill repute. Liz is also the festival director for the Hollywood Comedy Fest.

In addition to a focus on stand up comedy, Liz has written for and starred in the Independent Television Festival winner Loading Zone, several sketches for NBC’s It’s Your Show, and Paranormalcy, contender at the Paranoia Horror Festival. Liz is a writer, producer, director, and actor for Frog Island Comedy (over 9 million hits on YouTube) and House Panther Productions. Liz has also sold several successful webseries.

With reviews such as “indelible”, having a “wry wit”, and “I hope you die in a house fire”, Liz Stewart is not for the timid.
