In 1990 Dick opened and operated the very popular comedy club Dick Doherty’s Comedy Escape at the now defunct AKU AKU. He then moved over to The Crown Plaza Hotel and continued his great relationship with the comedy fans of Worcester. This spring when the hotel closed and turned into a college dorm Dick started his search for the right location to present his great lineup of comedians. He is very excited to be bringing his very successful Dick’s Beantown Comedy Club format to Biagios Grille at 257 Park Avenue by Elm Park. The small intimate upstairs function room is the perfect size to recreate the fun of the very successful Dick’s Beantown Comedy Vault in Boston and will be presenting the same double Headliner shows he presents there.
Dick has owned and operated comedy clubs since the mid 70’s and at one point had 10 clubs running in New England. One of these was the Wilbur Theater Boston location for The IMPROVIZATION of the original A&E TV’s “Evening at the Improv” fame, the first national TV stand-up comedy show. He now has locations in Boston, Brockton and Nashua NH and with the new club in Worcester he remains the largest and funniest comedy company in NewEngland.
